The
Silver Anniversary Tour was centered out of the Rhombus Hotel in
Chilliwack. The tour committee, consisting of the Reillys,
Egertons, N. Leedhams, and P. Findlays, worked hard to make sure that
everything about this tour came off smoothly. They weren't
disappointed.
Thirty-seven cars attended from B.C., Alberta, Washington, and
California. The tour routes wound all around the Chilliwack area
along a mixture of flat farmlands and winding coutnry roads. They
sights and smells were memorable, indeed. Stops at Granny and
Grumpa's snd the Miller's home offered lots to look at. A morning
stop at the ATA Park was an opportunity to meet up with the Red Carpet
Tour. For an hour the two groups mingled and were entertained by
members of The Dixie 9, a local dixieland band.
Saturday's banquet featured musical entertainment by the barbershop
quartet Synchromesh, and the annual awards. Paul Carter's 1908
White won the People's Choice Award and Ray Fowler's 1914 McLaughlin
won the Hard Luck Trophy. As well, Vern Wellburn was recognized
as the member who has attended the most tours - 24 out of 25!
Teresa Findlay presented each of the young people on the tour with an
award for completed their "Junior Navigator's Tour Book."
The 25th Annual Tour was a wonderful weekend. Thanks go to the
organizers and also to Lorne Walters for driving the trouble truck.
