The 24th annual Antique Chapter
tour was a resounding success! The tour was hosted by Dwight
Johnson and Brian Keith in Salmon Arm. These two, along with
their spouses Linda and Bev, spared no effort in planning and producing
a first-class tour. This fact is even more impressive when we
consider that they are not members of the Antique Chapter! Hopefully,
we'll be able to welcome them into our chapter one of these
days.
About 25 cars made the trip to the sunny Shuswap, coming from Alberta,
Washington, and B.C. A good group made the long trek from
Vancouver Island, and John and Marny Pierson drove their 1911 Rolls
from the coast (taking the long route, via
Whistler/Pemberton/Lillooet). After registering on Thursday evening,
the group toured on Friday and Saturday. Each day was a wonderful
drive along back country roads with wonderful scenery and great photo
stops. Highlights included a tour of The Village Cheese Factory
in Armstrong and an old-fashioned picnic in the park in Enderby.
Sunday morning's optional tour took a few of us to the Haney Farm, a
restored farm community. The Shuswap members have done a nice job
of restoring two old buildings - a gas station and a car dealership -
in the park.
The weather was great, the cars spectacular, and the friends were best
of all. Everyone had a great weekend. Thanks go to Dwight,
Linda, Brian, and Bev, as well as the Shuswap chapter members who
helped out with security and other management.
