Corn With Lorne 2011
It
was pretty hard to resist the offer of a scenic drive followed
by a Chilliwack corn roast, so it was no surprise that almost
50 people met in Chilliwack on August 21 for this event.
Lorne and Vivian had things well organized and took us on a 40
mile tour of the Chilliwack area. It was a great drive
through farm country with two interesting stops. The
first, at the Metal Animation Studio, featured the World's
largest stainless steel sculptures and was amazing.
Artist Kevin Stone showed us his beautiful work and even had a
few interesting cars on hand. The second stop was at the
Military Vehicle Museum at the old Armed Forces base.
It's an outstanding display that is well worth a visit.
The final leg of the trip was a climb of about 1000 ft up
Chilliwack mountain to Lorne and Vivian's home. It was a
steep, windy road and a good challenge for most of the
antiques. Perhaps the steepest part was Lorne's long
driveway, but the climb was worth it. The view from the
top was spectacular and the corn roast delicious. Many
thanks to Lorne, vivian, and their helpers for putting on a
great day for all of us.
It was the first time out for Steve and Teri's 1914 Model T,
which looked and performed great all day.
