The Ballad of Corn With Lorne
(sung to the tune of “Sloop John B” by the Beach Boys)
We gathered in Chil-li-wack, we drove our Cadillac.
Be-neath clear blue skies, we did roam ...
Lots of good sights, some left turns and rights
Lorne led us on a — spectacular drive.
The brass cars numbered eight, No-body was late.
They all were made by Ford, except for two.
The Hudson and me, were not Model T.
and Leedhams’ Mclaughlin --- in case things went wrong.
We made it up the big hill, you know that was a big thrill.
Vivian’s lunch was fab-u-lous as al-ways.
Lots of fresh corn, and pudding for Lorne
It was the best meal --- you ever could want.
Af-ter lunch was the quiz, David and Stan were a whiz.
They got thirty-two points - that’s nearly all.
The prize was a car - it won’t go very far.
So Stan sent a picture --- to im-press his wife.
Thanks to Vivian and Lorne, for buying all of the corn,
And plan-ning out a su-per day for us all.
The lunch, it was great, the drive was first-rate,
This was the best trip, we’ve ever been on!
