Once again, the annual June Tour
was a great success. Hosts Blaze and Monica Taylor and Vern and Pat
Wellburn put on an excellent event based in Port Alberni, B.C.
Thirty-one cars (1900 - 1915) made the trip to Vancouver Island and
everyone enjoyed the easy drives and terrific scenery.
Highlights included a visit to the Mars Martin water bombers on Sproat
Lake and a rather damp drive out to the historic MacLean Sawmill.
The wet weather brought out the rain gear and tarps for those of us who
lack windshields or tops. However, spirits were not at all
dampened as good food, friends, and fun were constant throughout the
weekend. Trouble truck driver Geoff Hopps had a fairly quiet time
with only two major problems to deal with - A boiler leak on the
1900 Locomobile and a rear end problem on the 1913 Peerless.
Thanks, Geoff, for helping out and thanks to the Taylors and Wellburns
for putting on this event.
