Kamloops, B.C.
June 21 - 24, 2012
The 30th Annual June Tour was held in Kamloops, at
the South Thompson Inn. 26 cars and 60 people attended and spent
three days touring the area. The weather was not typical - sun,
rain, and flooding added to the memorable weekend
The tour featured some beautiful back road
drives. Friday took us through the Barnhartvale area, on to
Pritchard, and over the Pinantan Lake Road. It was a tough
climb! Lunch was at Mackenzie Meadows, where young Lyla put on an
impressive demonstration of how they train their horses.
Saturday's drive was up the west side of the North
Thompson as far as Rainbow's Roost. After a delicious lunch
everyone headed back before the torrential rains came down. Sunday
morning began with a Pancake breakfast hosted by the VCCC Kamloops
Chapter. Then the tour finished off at Pine Grove Centre where the
staff and residents enjoyed seeing the ancient vehicles. One
woman named Olive was actually older than any of the cars!
Many thanks to the tour committee and the Kamloops
Chapter for all the work that went into making The Thompson Trek a
memorable weekend!
