June Tour 2023
"Discover the Discovery Islands"
June 19 - 22, 2023
| The 2023 June Tour was located in
Campbell River, B.C., on Vancouver Island. The
tour was hosted by a small group of our island members
and they put on a wonderful tour. The first day's
drive took us south along the island into the Comox
Valley where we had lunch at the small town of
Cumberland. In the afternoon we visit the Shelter
Point Distillery, after an ice cream stop. On the second day we took two small ferries to get over to Cortes Island where we were warmly welcomed by the islanders and some very enthusiastic school children. After lunch at the local museum we made our way along the lovely hilly roads and back to the ferry. Dinner was at a very scenic spot on Quadra Island before returning to the hotel. The final tour day took us back to Quadra Island for more excellent roads, a fascinating tour of the Nuyumbalees Indigenous Cultural Centre, and visits to a number of local artisans (pottery, paint, wines, and more). It was a most interesting and informative day and a great conclusion to our three days on the discovery islands. |
